ALL FIRED UP

Well, its a nice snowy Saturday morning here in Burnsville, NC, and I'm sitting here at my computer, Heart blaring on my CD player, and I'm wondering what my first column will be about.

Got a chance to catch NACW wrestling last night, hosted by Ricky Morton and Ben Throckmorton. It is great to be able to see Ricky Morton again and last night's broadcast seemed to be their strongest yet. I think NACW just may emerge as one of the top independent promotions in the country.

Last Wednesday night's NWA-TNA PPV really garnered some attention from the critics. As a matter of fact, the last two have been big topics with the media, with the appearance of the Chicago Bears' Brian Urlacher and the arrival of Survivor's Jonny Fairplay on the scene. NWA championJeff Jarrett seems to have been successful in his attempts to bring the NWA Board of Directors down and splitting NWA-TNA right down the middle. Jarrett also ruffled the feathers of one Wildcat Chris Harris right good.

Speaking of Wildcat Chris Harris, he will face Jarrett for the NWA title on March 6th in Johnson City, Tennessee, at the Brookes Gym located on the campus at ETSU. Can't wait for that one, seeing what went down Wednesday night. This match should be a barn-burner! I finally got a reply to my email to Chris last night, although it was short and sweet. I think Chris will be one of the biggest superstars of wrestling in the near future. No reply from James Storm yet, though.

Poor James suffered injuries to his hand and neck about three weeks ago in a tag match with Chris against the Red Shirt Security. If you watched the PPV Wednesday night, you know that James was pretty heavily bandaged up. However, I understand he HAS been cleared to wrestle.

Dustin Rhodes made his NWA-TNA debut Wednesday night against Jeff Jarrett. I thought he looked less than impressive. I thought he was so much better in the WWE as the Tourette-plagued Goldust, which was probably insulting to some, but hilarious nonetheless!

Eddie Guerrero is finally getting the big push that he deserves. Eddie has come a long way and overcame alot to get where he is right now. You can't NOT admire the man. I may have to order a WWE PPV for once, when Eddie faces Brock Lesnar. It was good to see Chavo Sr. Thursday night on Smackdown. That whole Eddie vs. Chavo thing went over well in WCW; I'm glad to see it was restarted in the WWE. It was/is a good angle.

I got the chance to pick up Roddy Piper's autobiography, In the Pit With Piper. Any fan of Roddy Piper and old school wrestling will love this. Roddy doesn't overly dwell on his life before he became a wrestler. He surpasses the vegetables and gets right to the steak, so to speak. Some very entertaining stories and some great pictures in the book. I highly recommend it. I'm still looking for Every Man Has His Price, by one of my long-time favorites, Ted DiBiase and also the book by Ole Anderson that just came out.

My daughters are so sweet to me this morning. They are cleaning house for me so that I can sit in here and write this column! My oldest daughter is a MAJOR Sting fan. Whenever Sting faces Jeff Jarrett, it's Katie-bar-the-door at my house! Because her mama is a MAJOR fan of Double J!

Before I close for this week, I want to thank Stro for giving me the chance to write this column. I was checking my email one night and came across a column that he posted to one of the groups I was a member of and remembered him from WCW and decided to email him. Stro is an absolute sweetie. I'm still looking for my chance to see Stro in action in the ring.

"So, as I pull over to the curb to let you out of my car, I want you to remember that the next time you see the Yellow Canary coming your way, just stick out your thumb and I'll be ready to take you for another ride." - Roddy Piper, In the Pit With Piper
