Owen Hart - 1 Year Later

May 23 was the one year anniversary of Owen Harts death,
its really sad to realize that he is really gone. I never knew Owen personally, but from
what I've been told he was a great man. I saw him wrestle several times, and he always put
on a good show. Even though I never knew him personally, I felt like I knew him really
well because I watched him on TV twice a week, yet Martha Hart (his wife) Said, "I
would hope people would remember him the way my children -- Oje and Athena -- and I
remember him, as a wonderful human being who just happened to wrestle". I feel bad
cause most of us (fans) never really got to know Owen Hart personally, and most of us see
him as " A wrestler who just happened to be a wonderful human being". It is
almost impossible for each and every fan to know him personally, yet it is possible to
keep the memory, and legend of Owen Hart alive. There is a petition going around the
Internet, that is asking the WWF to change the name " King of The Ring" to
"King of Harts" in memory of Owen Hart you can visit this web page by going to
http://www.geocities.com/kurtangle1 . I think it is a great idea and a great way to
remember this wonderful human being, that happened to be a great wrestler. There is really
nothing more that I can say about Owen Hart, that hasn't been already said. Owen we all
miss you and Love you. Thanks for the memories.
I guess the anniversary of Owen Hart's death made me think about other past greats that
passed away so suddenly and one thought that came to my mind was...Too many, Too Young,
that were Too Great. It seems to me that many more wrestlers seem to be passing away more
often lately, or maybe its just that I'm finally old enough to realize whats going on.
Many wrestlers have passed away and some of the recent ones are Owen Hart, Gorilla
Monsoon, Gary Albright, Rick Rude, Renegade, Junkyard Dog, and Brian Pillman. ( I
apologize because I know that I am missing a lot of people). I never knew any of these
wrestlers personally but I did know the relatives of Gary Albright and it sadden me to see
them suffer with their loss, plus it is also painful to read how much suffering Bret Hart,
and all the other Hart family members have gone through. It seems to me that too many are
dieing at a fast rate, and what most people do when one of their fellow wrestlers pass
away is throw a Memorial Show in memory of him, that helps raise money for their family. I
believe this is a great idea, and a great way to keep the memory of these wrestlers alive.
Yet it seems to me that there are sadly, too many memorial shows. This is sad because too
many wrestlers are passing away. What happens Ten years from?? when even more wrestlers
die?? Do we keep throwing new Memorial Shows....I hope so.....Do we keep holding the same
ones we have going now plus new ones?? I hope so. Whenever a superstar passes away one of
the first things said is "You always will be remembered", and I fear that people
will forget the greats that passed on, and their careers will be nothing more than a
distant memory. I just want people to get what they deserve, and that is respect. Its
human nature, that people die, yet it seems hard when the very men, that aren't suppose to
feel pain.......die.
I am asking you (the wrestling fans) for help. I am asking you to help keep the memory of
these great men alive. To pass on stories of the giants of old. Help keep the word out
about what it use to be like, and how great it was, and still is. Perhaps, most
importantly I am asking you guys to respect, and enjoy the stars of Today that you watch
on Monday Night Raw, Nitro, ECW, and indy feds. Enjoy them while they are here, maybe
instead of dissecting each wrestler, we should just sit back and watch in amazement as
these men pour their hearts into each match, and leave it all in the ring. Enjoy them
today because, sadly, they may be gone tomorrow.
God Bless,
